16+ acres of lush forest and flowering plants from around the Northwest, and you will get a very different experience depending on what time of year you visit.

In northeast Portland, there is a nice viewpoint at Rocky Butte Natural Area. The park covers the remains of an extinct volcano and gives you — on clear days — a nice view of several more volcanoes, both extinct (e.g., Mount Tabor, Pilot Butte, etc.) and active (e.g., Mount Hood and Mount St. Helens).

In Sellwood, Oregon, is a one-room insectarium, i.e. a little museum/zoo dedicated to insects and spiders.

Always a fun Portland destination, especially this time of year when many of the plants are in bloom.

A few months ago I took my beloved Canon AE-1 and some expired film around downtown Portland, Oregon.

Not only was it pouring rain in the dead of winter, but more importantly about two thirds of the place were closed for a massive renovation project…
