On a gorgeous sunny spring day, my daughter and I visited one of the true gems of East Portland: Leach Botanical Garden, located just south of Foster and SE 122 Avenue. There are 16+ acres of lush forest and flowering plants from around the northwest, and you will get a very different experience depending on what time of year you visit. The highlight any time though is the so-called Tree Walk that opened a few years back; it allows you to walk high among the Douglas Fir trees and look out across the old Leach manor house and its surrounding gardens from above. A unique experience!

Leach Garden, May 2021

One of East Portland’s best spots without a doubt is Leach Botanical Garden. Full of ever-changing greenery, particularly from across the Pacific Northwest, you can find it on SE Claybourne Street, just a little off SE Foster Road and north of Mount Scott.
