Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum (WAAAM)
What makes this museum unique and worth visiting is not simply the hundreds of beautiful old airplanes, cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc., but also that everything there actually stills functions. So the cars still drive and the planes still fly.
North Portland: Kelley Point and Cathedral Parks
I did a little exploring around North Portland with my trusty Canon AE-1 camera. I took in some waves and rays at Kelley Point City Park and then walked around the world-class beauty of the Saint Johns Bridge at Cathedral Park.
International Rose Test Garden
In the hills just west of downtown Portland, in Washington Park, sits the beautiful sights and aromas of the International Rose Test Garden. There you will find thousands of different rose bushes and vines. It’s deservedly one of Portland’s premier tourist destinations.
Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest 2026
The morning we went, the air was crisp and beautiful, and we strolled through the large tulip fields and basked in the sunshine. The tulips were covered in frost and glistening dew drops.
Portland Art Museum, Dec 2025
Elaine and I visited the newly revamped and reopened Portland Art Museum. The past couple of years the museum had been partially closed to add an additional 100,000 square feet. It certainly is an improvement to the facility in any and all definitions.
Oregon Garden, June 2025
This June Elaine and I visited the Oregon Garden, the 80-acre botanical garden in Silverton, Oregon. There are so many interesting plants from across the pacific northwest. I love all the sights, sounds, and smells there.

Wreck of the Peter Iredale (post 2 of 2: Sunset)
West of Astoria, Oregon, on the wide and well-preserved historic beaches along Fort Stevens State Park, a visitor may be surprised to find the remains of a shipwreck from 1906. The Peter Iredale, once a 300-foot-long wooden sailing ship with four tall masts, is now only the skeletal remains of its iron hull sticking out of the sand.
