The Willamette Valley of Oregon, where I live, got walloped by a big ice storm this Valentine’s Day weekend, 2021. I even lost power for about 24 hours, and my goodness, it had become darn cold in my house by the time the power was finally restored. (Big thanks to all the hard-working electrical workers out there!) Between shivers though, I managed to snap a few photos to remember the event. I found the multitude of little birds surrounding my bird feeder to be particularly enjoyable to photograph. UPDATE, Valentine’s night: the ice made the plum tree collapse!
All but the final four of these shots were done with a Canon 6D and a 100mm 2.8 lens; those were with an iPhone 11.
