Near the city of Şanlıurfa, Turkey, is the fascinating ancient town of Harran. You cannot visit without being awed by the cone-shaped roofs made of mud. They have a wonderful beehive quality and, I'm told, no wood is involved. So similar and yet so different from the adobe houses of Albuquerque, where my mom used to live.
And yes, they are still building the mud houses today and still living in them there.
See all my Turkish posts.
