Batman, Turkey
Outside of Batman, Turkey, we stayed at Bato Termal Otel. Everyone was exhausted from our previous day's adventures (in places like the Ishak Pasha Palace), but I woke up early before everyone else and wandered the area outside the hotel alone. The air smelled of sulfur (from the natural hot springs), the hills and trees were a lush green. The town was a little rundown, but the natural area was beautiful and serene.
See all my Turkish posts.
Across the Batman River is the beautiful Malabadi Bridge. It's an Ottoman bridge from about a thousand years ago. So lovely. When we arrived, a thick morning fog still hung on the area, though Batman was clear. (Right after these photos, Putri fainted in the bus from exhaustion and dehydration. We took her to the hospital in Mardin, and she was very soon fine.)
Nice person in Portland, Oregon, and beyond.
