Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, Portland

Year-in, year-out, one great spot to escape the rigors of city life, to relax and enjoy nature, is the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in SE Portland, right across the street from Reed College. This visit was at the start of April 2018, which meant the garden's wonderful array of rhododendrons was in the first stages of blooming, as were magnolias, camellias, and other trees there, while gorgeous maples had their leaves already. In other words, it was a lovely time for my girlfriend Elaine and me to stop by, and we will definitely be back later in the spring.

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden, March '24

On a cool drizzly early spring morning, there were plenty of beautiful sights in the garden, from honking geese to blooming flowers of various varieties (including, yes, rhododendrons). Oh, and one huge nutria.
