Just after sunset on 22 April 2016, I walked around a couple of the blocks in my Portland neighborhood taking a few photos of the many dazzling flowers along the sidewalk. I am preparing to move to a new area here, so it was a little bittersweet. So here is something of a goodbye to my 10 years (next month) in Portland's Richmond district.
The second day of the July 2016 Travel Tacoma and Visit Rainier "instafam" tour was packed. The first thing (after breakfast at the Hotel Murano and checking out) in the morning we went to Gig Harbor, Washington, and met John "Cinque" Synco and his authentic Venetian gondola, Nelly. He runs Gig Harbor Gondola. John rowed us around the tranquil harbor, singing us Venetian songs and giving us a detailed history of gondoliers in America. Pretty great stuff! And the weather was truly perfect, as I think you can see from my photos below.
Taken with my Canon AE-1, still hanging on from the late 1970s. A great little camera and a ton of fun to shoot with, even on a dark and rainy Portland day.
I had a nice interview published in the Forest Magazine from Greece. It includes some musings about beauty and creativity. In other words: fun!
