Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, Aug 2019

The museum’s most famous and most immediately stunning piece is the Spruce Goose, but the place is packed to the gills with planes, helicopters, rockets, memorabilia, and more…

Washington, DC, June 2019

We walked miles and miles around the city center from this museum to that, from this fun spot to that. I really enjoyed myself, particularly attracted to and energized by the intellectual vibe in the air, thick like the humidity.

Zeugma Mosaic Museum, Gaziantep, Turkey

The Zeugma Mosaic Museum in Gaziantep, Turkey, is full of mosaics and other artifacts moved from the ancient Roman town of Zeugma, which had been flooded by modern damming of the Euphrates...

Museum of Glass, Tacoma

I visited the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, in June 2017. It not only has exhibits of gorgeous glass art, but it also has a very large glassblowing studio where you can watch world-class artists in residence...

LeMay: America's Car Museum, Tacoma

Two of the most recognizable roofs in the entire Tacoma, Washington, area sit side by side right off the I-5 freeway: the massive concrete hemisphere of the Tacoma Dome (the world's largest wooden dome) and the shining silver semicylinder of the LeMay: America's Car Museum or ACM. I toured the ACM in June 2017 with Travel Tacoma. The beautiful space holds about 300 cars and trucks in 165,000 square feet...

Alaska: Smithsonian Arctic Studies Center in the Anchorage Museum

After exploring the Juneau region, we headed to the mountains around Anchorage. But first I made a quick stop after getting off the plane at the Smithsonian Arctic Studies Center in the Anchorage Museum. It houses a wonderful collection of native arts and crafts as well as photos, maps, videos, and other educational materials. A great experience. My eyes were opened to the wide range and beauty of the native work here. (I particularly loved the masks, as you can see in my photos.)

Tre Oci Gallery, Venice

December 2015 was overflowing with shoots in Venice. One great stop I made was at the Tre Oci Gallery in the Giudecca district.  It's a terrific exhibition space that really supports photography (and other visual arts), with shows featuring internationally renown artists alongside local up-and-comers. Really warmed my heart.

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice

In December 2015, I traveled to Venice, Italy, for a few shoots and a lot of R&R. There was so much to see that there wasn't much I meant to twice; the Peggy Guggenheim Collection on the Grand Canal, however, was such a place. (If I had time, I'd have had a third visit!) Maria Rita Cerilli, their ‎Officer for Press and Social Media, met with us and took us up on their roof, with its fabulous views.  Such a terrific little museum, with world-class artists like Picasso and Pollock, in a terrific little setting.

San Francisco, 11/15: Set 2, De Young Museum

In November 2015 I traveled to San Francisco, California, for a couple of shoots, and to attend the An Event Apart conference. On a free morning, I went to Golden Gate park to visit the de Young art museum with its gorgeous copper facade and fun observation deck.

The Broad Museum with Mackenzie Firgens, October 2015

Actress Mackenzie Firgens and I checked out the brand new Broad Museum in downtown Los Angeles. The Broad is a great new addition to LA culture, an incredible art collection... though in a building I am still figuring out how I feel about.
